Signs of life

The common denominator of this ensemble of collages with relatively simple forms and generally reduced formats is vegetal energy, exuberant vital force: kinds of pulpy artificial buds, engorged with promising life, with strange surface growths – or capsules with multiple superimposed layers concealing some secret kernel. A whole panoply of vegetation on the point of germinating, blooming or exploding into life. And just as many unsettling structures, emerging from a world made up of mysterious and sensual impulses. The absurdity of the forms united with the hyperrealism of the surfaces plunges us into a comical and nonsensical universe – an essential constituent element of my artistic imagination.

These are the initial, primary forms of my own personal and artistic blossoming fourty years ago. In the following years, my creative vocabulary became more complex and multiform.
